The State Secretary of Vatican Parolin refers to France’s steps. It supports the recognition of the Palestinian state and appeals to members of the G7 group to join it.
On Monday, the State Secretary of the Vatican Pietro Parolin called on the country of the world to recognize the existence of the Palestinian State and said that all members of the G7 group should be followed by an example of France. This is reported by TASR based on the Sky News report.
According to Parolin, France’s step is not hasty. “We have acknowledged (the Palestinian state) a long time ago. For us, the solution is to recognize two states that exist side by side, but at the same time they are independent and safe,” said Parolin.
Vatican formally recognized the existence of the Palestinian state in 2015. Parolin responded by his statement to Thursday’s statement by French President Emmanuel Macron, according to which his country will take the same step at the UN General General Assembly.
