Damares says that Moraes violates human rights and presents a list

Senator cited arbitrary arrests, censorship of freedom of expression and political discrimination

The Senator (Republicans-DF) stated that the Minister of (Supreme Federal Court), Alexandre de Moraes, would have committed 15 violations against human rights since the attacks of January 8, 2023.

She made a presentation during a public hearing held on Thursday (7.ago.2025) at the Public Security Commission of the House of Representatives to analyze alleged irregularities in judicial proceedings in the Supreme Court. Read the presentation (PDF – 1 MB)

According to the senator, the minister would have chosen it as a “Enemy”. Damares stated that the Senate Human Rights Commission was not allowed to prison to speak with the January 8 prisoners.

“He affronts the Federal Senate, the Human Rights Commission, because he chose me as an enemy. This is very serious. He goes over the institutional relations, he goes over the Constitution, when he chooses an enemy. And I don’t know why Alexandre de Moraes chose me as an enemy. I’m a 61 -year -old lady, I’m just working.”he declared.

According to the senator, the presentation would prove that the minister should not conduct inquiries against supporters of the former president (PL) in the Supreme, since he would be “A human rights violator”.

“He is a tyrant. And I know what I’m talking about. And he is a tyrant who chooses enemies and he chose his enemies, but he chose evil.”.

In her speech, she cited arbitrary arrests, suppression of due process, censorship of freedom of expression, illegal surveillance, political discrimination, inhuman treatment to prisoners, as well as alleged acts of religious persecution and violation of the rights of elderly and people with disabilities.
