Unipar confirms conversations about buying assets from Braskem; UNIP6 and BRKM5 shoot

Unipar Carboclor (;) confirmed on Friday that it is arguing with Braskem () a potential purchase of greater rival assets and has signed a confidentiality agreement, but not binding documents.

“The company celebrated in July 2025 Confidentiality Agreement with Braskem to make the parties evaluate the viability of potential transaction,” Unipar said in a relevant fact to the market, published hours after Braskem also confirmed negotiations with the company.

Unipar’s shares had the negotiation interrupted at 11:56 am (Brasília time) due to the imminence of the relevant fact: before, the papers jumped 10.11%, to R $ 61.20, also in the wake of the disclosure of results on Thursday night (7). Unipar had net income of R $ 232 million in the 2nd quarter, up 161% in the annual comparison, while the papers jumped 6.44% to R $ 8.93.

Earlier, Braskem reported that he had started conversation with Unipar Carboclor about potential opportunities involving assets or corporate companies of the company and its subsidiaries.

The company controlled by Novoonor and Petrobras () stressed that, until this date, there is no definition of assets or corporate participations that may be part of a potential transaction. It also stated that no agreement was not agreed between the parties, binding or not, except for a confidentiality agreement.

“Potential transactions of buying and selling assets are part of the company’s activities, and its materializations are always uncertain,” said Braskem.

The day before, columnist Lauro Jardim, from the newspaper O Globo, published that Braskem was negotiating the sale of its assets in the United States to Unipar.

In a teleconference with analysts to comment on the results of the second quarter, also on Thursday, Braskem’s chief executive, Roberto Ramos, said after the publication of O Globo that the company’s assets in the US are part of the company’s transformation strategy to improve its profitability.

“The maintenance of plants in the US is of fundamental importance because there are two of our top three laboratories … We have no intention to get rid of polypropylene plants in the US,” said the executive.
