Military personnel have to leave only with the payment of a single amount, without recognition of the years of service
The US Air Force announced on Thursday it will deny access to early reform to all transgender military personnel who are 15 to 18 years old. The alternative given will be a way out where no benefits apply for long service time.
The measure implies that the transgender military has now to choose between receiving a single compensation that is being offered to troops or simply ceasing to be in service.
The information was advanced by Reuters. The news agency, citing an internal memorandum, said that the only alternative for these military would be withdrawal without any benefit.
That is, these transgender military with more time of service would be confronted with the same reality presented to the younger colleagues: to be forced to leave with the payment of a single value.
An anonymous Air Force spokesman told the Associated Press that “although the 15-18-year-old military personnel could request an exception to the rules, none of these exceptions have been approved.”
It was about a dozen the military who were “previously notified” that they could be renovated before this change came into force.
All transgender elements of the Air Force are being removed from their service due to the Trump administration policies.
