Salah criticizes UEFA’s tribute to the “Pelé Palestine” for not specifying the causes of his death | Soccer | Sports

The Liverpool striker, has criticized on Saturday the UEFA tribute to the late Suleiman Al-Obeid, known as the “Palestino Pelé”, after the governing body of European football did not refer to the circumstances surrounding his death this week. The Palestinian Football Association (PFA) reported that Al-Obeid, 41, died on Wednesday in an Israeli attack against civilians waiting for humanitarian aid in the south of the Gaza Strip.

In a brief publication in the social network X, he described it to the former national team player as “a talent that gave hope to innumerable children, even in the most difficult moments.” Salah replied: “Can you tell us how he died, where and why?”, Stating that UEFA had not told the whole truth of the case. Salah, one of the largest stars of the 33 -year -old Premier League, has previously advocated the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza in the middle of the war that lasts almost two years.

The PFA subsequently published a statement on its Facebook page, attributed to the UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin, in which he described Al-Obeid as “proof of the joy that can bloom in the hearts of people despite the difficulties.” “He gave his talent and dedication to the children of Gaza and gave their dreams the hope of flourishing despite the suffering,” said the statement.

“His death is a great loss to the world of football and for all those who recognize the power of sport to unite people.” The PFA declared on Saturday that 325 players, coaches, administrators, referees and members of the board of directors of the Clubs of the Palestinian football community have died in it.
