Shooting interrupts worship and scares residents in the west of Rio

The morning of Sunday (7) was marked by moments of panic in Praça Seca, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. A shooting in the region interrupted a service in an evangelical church Located on Baroness Street, forcing the faithful to throw themselves on the floor to protect themselves.

According to the Military Police, the action was the result of a joint operation of the 18th BPM (Jacarepaguá) and the 28th DP, which aimed to dismantle a gang specializing in residence thefts in the region.

During the operation, police approached a vehicle suspected of involvement in a robbery in Taquara. The occupants reacted shooting at the teams, starting an intense confrontation. Two suspects were killed, a third was injured and was sent to a health unit, while a room managed to escape.

With the criminals, two .40 caliber pistols were seized, a .32 caliber revolver, a .38 caliber revolver, a .22 caliber shotgun, a pistol simulacrum and two vehicles.
