A NASA chamber aboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter mission observed brilliant points on the northern pole of Mars.
A chamber aboard a NASA mission has observed small bright points and disseminated on the plains around the north pole of Mars, at a latitude of 75 degrees.
The observation was made by the Hirise Chamber, aboard the Mission Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) of the US Space Agency (NASA), the Europa Press agency reported on Tuesday.
“This demonstrates that ice is perennial or almost perennial, which means that the environment is approaching conditions under which ice on the surface can accumulate and survive,” reads.
This image has been purchased to monitor some larger perennial deposits near the center, as well as small bright points and disseminated for most of the observation.
The image corresponds to the summer solstice of the Northern Martian hemisphere, the equivalent of the beginning of July on Earth.
