Polish Premier says that risk of conflict is the greatest since World War II

Poland has been closer to a conflict since World War II, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Wednesday, after the NATO member he slaughtered Russian drones over its territory.

He said that Poland asked NATO to open consultations under article 4 of its treaty, which states that members of the Western Military Alliance will consult whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territory, political independence or security of either one of them is threatened.

Tusk informed Parliament that there was at night. The raids increased existing tensions after previous drone forays.

“I have no reason to claim that we are on the brink, but a line has been crossed, and is incomparably more dangerous than before,” he said.

“This situation makes us closer to the open conflict since.”

Tusk said the fall of three drones has been confirmed and that a room is likely to have been shot down.

“The fact that those who represented a threat to security, having been slaughtered changes the political situation. Therefore, the consultations with the allies assumed the form of a formal request to activate Article 4 of the NATO Treaty,” said Tusk.

Interior Ministry spokeswoman Karolina Galecka said Poland found seven drones and wreckage of a missile.

A similar drone or object hit a residential building in Wyryki, east of Poland, but no one was injured, the local mayor told the state news channel TVP Info.

In another part of the eastern region of Lublin, police said he found a damaged drone in the village of Czosnowka.

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Zamosc, also in the Lublin region, said he was informed of the discovery of drone components near a cemetery in the city of Czesniki.

In central Lodz, a drone was found in a field near Mniszkow village.
