A tutelary counselor of Jardim do Mulato, in the center-north of Piauí, was arrested on Thursday (11) during an operation of the Civil Police that investigates the murder of Antonio Marcos Vieira de Araújo, 23, occurred in May this year.
The man, who was not named, also chaired the municipal fishermen’s union and is appointed as the prime suspect in the crime.
The police team served two temporary arrest warrants and one of home search and seizure. By court decision, the Guardian Counselor was also removed from public functions.
The investigation investigates, in addition to the qualified homicide, possible links to the investigated with drug trafficking and the acquisition of firearms.
The expert report reinforces the suspicion of participation of more than one person in the crime, as the victim had compatible injuries to both firearm and white gun blows. The body was found, on May 10, on an isolated back road, which made it difficult to investigate the absence of witnesses, homes or security cameras.
According to the Civil Police, the complexity of the case required advanced investigation techniques. The operation was conducted by the Amarante Police Station, with the support of the White Water Sectional Police Station and the Directorate of Traffic Operations of the Secretariat of Public Security.
