The government wants to halve the number of practical driving classes in schools. The goal is to encourage the driving model accompanied by a tutor, taking work to driving schools. Anieca speaks of “replacement”.
Currently, in Portugal, 32 hours of learning in driving schools are mandatory. Then the candidate for driver can complement learning with a tutor. Now the executive wants to reinforce this type of regime in Portugal.
The government’s proposal to change the legal regime of driving teaching focuses on the driving accompanied in the category of vehicles light.
According to (JN), to promote this model, the executive wants to reduce the requirements and pass the 32 hours of practical classes in schools to 16.
The National Association of Driving Schools (Anieca) is against the proposal.

Currently, the legal regime of driving teaching imposes rules to be allowed to be accompanied, such as:
- o tutor be enabled to drive category B vehicle there are at least ten years;
- not being convicted of road crime or serious or very serious offense in the last five years;
- have attended with use, together with the candidate, a Common Road Safety Module.
