Fluminense idol, Fred starts career as a coach at Fortaleza

Fred Guedes will be coach of the Fortaleza U18. The surprising announcement was made on Wednesday (17), on the social networks of Leão do Pici. This will be the first work as coach of the Fluminense idol.

In addition to the large curriculum as a player, Fred sought qualification off the field. After retiring, he graduated from courses and specializations, such as license A and B of coaches from CBF Academy and currently attend the UEFA license. Before accepting the thistle of coach, he was the position of director of sports planning of Fluminense.

In an interview with the club’s official website, the former artillery thanked Marcelo Paz, CEO of, and revealed happiness with the new challenge.

“I am very happy to start this new cycle in my life within football. I thank God, to its immense crowd and, especially, to Marcelo Paz for this great opportunity to keep doing what I love the most, football. I believe in the transforming power that the sport has to change lives, as mine and my family has changed, and I hope to contribute to the formation of new athletes, not only technical and tactically, but also as human beings.

“I am completely motivated and I promise to live the club intensely on a daily basis, dedicating myself to honor to honor its colors and values-concluded the new coach of the U18 team,” he said.
