Former Corinthians president resigned from Leifert at Globo; understand

In an interview with Podcast Podpah on the night of Thursday (18), presenter Tiago Leifert recalled a controversial episode in 2011, when an April 1 game involving Corinthians caused great repercussions-and even a resignation made by Andrés Sanchez, then president of the club, on TV Globo.

At the time, Leifert led the Globoesporte program in Sao Paulo and decided to make a special edition in satire tone for Lie Day. The idea was to play with the absence of Libertadores titles in the curriculum of the so far – the club would only win its first continental cup in 2012.

“April first, historically, everyone does the same thing. Lie news, I find it boring. I told my team: ‘Let’s make a program we would never do, with real news, but we would never give or give it that way,” Leifert explained.

The production went beyond the traditional. The program of the program recorded with another “Corinthians”, interviewing homonymous players of the São Paulo club, and prepared a surprising closure.

“I asked to get Galvão shouting that Sao Paulo was champion of Libertadores. I asked to take ‘Sao Paulo’ and put ” in the audio edition. It takes an art of Corinthians champion of Libertadores, which we will end the show saying ‘April first, anniversary of the Corinthians Libertadores,” he said.

Despite the team’s warnings, Leifert took the idea ahead. “He said to me, ‘You won’t do that, you can’t,’ I said, ‘I will do.’ I didn’t tell anyone and in the air I said, ‘Today is April 1, the first Corinthians Libertadores title anniversary.’

Resignation for former Corinthians president

The reaction did not take long. After the program aired, Leifert received an unexpected call:

“The program ended and my phone rang with an unknown number. I answered and was Andrés Sanchez, who had taken my phone with Ronaldo. He said: ‘You know why they call the bunch of crazy, right? I called Globo and asked to send you away,'” Leifert said.

Even explaining that it was a harmless joke, the leader was exalted. “He gave three or four shouts and I said: ‘Calm down, everything is fine, I love you, I love Corinthians, we treated you very well in the air, you have the best audience on Globo.
