Several Brazilian capitals are the stage this Sunday (21) of demonstrations against the PEC of Armage, which makes it difficult to open criminal proceedings against parliamentarians, and against the Amnesty Bill, which provides for forgiveness to convicted by the coup act of January 8, 2023.
The protests, called mainly by social and leftist movements, bring together thousands of people in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Salvador, Belém, Maceió, Manaus, Natal, João Pessoa, São Luís, Cuiabá and more cities. At least 33 cities are expected to have demonstrations.
Protesters call for the rejection of the Senate PEC and the end of the amnesty project, defending the liability of parliamentarians and convicted involved in serious crimes.

In São Paulo, the public focuses on Paulista Avenue, in front of the São Paulo Art Museum building (MASP). Until 13h, the movement was still similar to that of Sundays, when the two lanes remain closed to pedestrians for several hours.
A few minutes later, unions, parties like PT, PCdoB and PSOL and social movements extended bands, raised flags and distributed various materials, such as “no amnesty” stickers and paper fans against “bandit PEC”.
The rented electric trio, curiously a vehicle that has already appeared in Bolsonarist demonstrations, was parked across the street, next to the entrance of the Trianon Park.

It was possible to find protesters with the cap “Brazil is from Brazilians”, adopted by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and the left to counteract Donald Trump’s “Maga” movement, wearing t -shirts from the Brazilian team and carrying the country’s flag.

In Rio de Janeiro, protesters gathered at the time of Copacabana’s waterfront, to watch the shows of singers Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Paulinho da Viola, Djavan, among others, and to listen to the speeches of political leadership.
Caetano Veloso said during the musical act that democracy in Brazil resists. According to him, the national culture presents great vitality: “We cannot fail to respond to the horrors that have been insinuating around us.”

Gilberto Gil recalled that Brazil has already experienced similar moments in its history. “We have been through similar moments always in search of autonomy, the greatest good of our people,” he said.

The act in Brasilia was marked for the vicinity of the National Museum and featured a march to the front of Congress. Protesters carried tracks with sayings “no amnesty for coup”, “Enemy Congress of the People” and “not to the bandit PEC”.
In the discourses of militants and the choruses sung by protesters there were also criticism of the mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB). He decided to guide the vote on the urgent project of the amnesty project that can benefit Jair Bolsonaro and is now being treated as “PL of Dosimetry” by the rapporteur, Paulinho da Força (Solidarity-SP).

In Salvador, Federal Deputy Guilherme Boulos (PSOL-SP) showed images of the act held from Christ of Barra. In addition to singer Daniela Mercury, actor Wagner Moura spoke on the electric trio for the crowd in the sun.

In Manaus, participants walked down Getúlio Vargas Avenue, displaying banners against “Bondegeing PEC” and Amnesty.

The acts mobilized on the left in the country aims at Congress, with harsh criticism of the amnesty project to scammers and the proposal of amendment to the Constitution that has earned the nickname of the armor PEC, because it makes it difficult to criminal liability of parliamentarians.
The PEC was approved by the House of Representatives last Tuesday, 16, with massive adhesion of the PL, party of former President Jair Bolsonaro, as well as other opposition parties to the Lula administration. The PT, in turn, released the bench and had 12 deputies voting in favor of the proposal in the first round. Two of them changed position in the second round.
The PEC text says that deputies and senators can only be arrested in case of flagrant for unenforceable crime, expands the privileged forum and still restricts criminal proceedings against parliamentarians.
It goes to Senate approval. Senator Alessandro Vieira (MDB-SE), rapporteur of the proposal, signaled that he will position himself by rejection.
Already the amnesty project still follows in the House. Last Wednesday, 17, the House approved the urgency of the theme. On Thursday, 18, the president of the House, Hugo Motta, officialized Paulinho da Força as rapporteur of the project.
