NDCs are the commitments each country assumes to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases that heat the earth and are the main engine of climate change. In the case of Brazil, the goal is to reduce the emissions from 59% to 67%. To date, about 47 countries have presented their NDCs, according to Itamaraty. The event in New York will be a new opportunity for nations to update these goals.
In his speech at the opening of the General Assembly, Lula highlighted the need to bring the fight against climate to the heart of the UN. The president proposed the creation of a board to monitor global climate actions.
The Brazilian President also recalled the importance of all leaders to depart for concrete action on the increased temperature of the planet caused by polluting gases in the atmosphere, going beyond negotiation, but fairly and balanced between developed countries and developing countries.

Lula also emphasized the launch of the conservation mechanism of tropical forests, proposed by Brazil as an instrument to confront climate change.
