Former US President Donald Trump was again interested. In his speech he stressed that if he did not receive the Nobel Prize of Peace, he would consider it an insult to the US.
US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that if he had not won the Nobel Peace Prize, it would be an insult to the United States. He said this in his speech to the top commanders of the US Armed Forces, who was convened by US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth at the base of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia. This is written by TASR based on AFP report.
“They give it to a guy who has not done anything,” said Trump, who often boasts that he has ended several conflicts. He added that such a decision “would be a great insult to our country.”
Trump has completed several conflicts
In recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly recalled in his public appearances that he had finished seven wars during his second mandate or prevented their outbreak.
This balance includes armed conflicts between Armenia and Azerbaijan, India and Pakistan, Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas, Cambodia and Thailand, Egypt and Ethiopia, Serbia and Kosovo. However, some of these Trump’s claims are considered questionable, especially when these conflicts continued after Trump’s intervention.
The Nobel Prize is awarded by the Norwegian Committee
Nevertheless, Trump was repeatedly nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his diplomatic success this year. Public opinion polls show that most Americans (76 percent) believe that Trump does not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. This view is mainly held by independent voters and democrats, and the Republicans are divided in this respect.
The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by the Norwegian Parliament’s five -member committee, whose members were critical of Trump in the past.
