Republicans are trying to hold democratic legislators responsible for not avoiding a stoppage and refuse to support the Republican bill to temporarily fund the government.
Mayor Mike Johnson said in an X post: “They officially voted for the closing of the government.”
“Results: Mothers and children now lose the nutrition of WIC (Special Program for Supplementary Nutrition for Women, Babies and Children). Veterans lose medical assistance and suicide prevention programs. FEMA suffers from deficits during the hurricane season. TSA soldiers and agents run out of salary,” added Johnson.
“The only question now: How long Chuck Schumer will let this pain continue – for his own selfish motives?” The president of the house concluded.
Democrats have officially voted to CLOSE the government.

The only question now: How long…

Senator Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming said in a statement: “It’s time for Senate democrats to stop these political games and join Republicans to do the right thing for the American people, voting to maintain the financing of our government and national parks.”
Government shutdown
The US Federal Government is officially paralyzed after Congress has not been able to approve a financing measure to maintain operation. The next steps are still an uncertainty in the capitol. This is the first government stoppage since 2019.
Leaders of both parties are, privately and publicly, inflexible that they will not be held responsible for the interruption of financing: Republicans insist that Democrats simply need to agree to extend current financing for another seven weeks.
Democrats refuse, without major concessions to lend their votes to approve any Senate financing measure.
The Senate should vote again tomorrow morning about the same Republican party financing plan, which Republican leaders promised to present day after day until a sufficient number of Ceda Democrats and agrees to reopen the government.
