The Senate of the United States failed again on Wednesday (1) in two attempts to approve a budget agreement to end the partial stoppage of the federal government, which already affects services considered not essential since midnight.
The Democratic proposal was rejected by 53 votes to 47, while the Republican text added 55 favorable votes and 45 contrary, five less than the 60 necessary for approval. It was the first round of voting since, but did not bring concrete advance.
Democrats divided, inflexible republicans
Two Democratic Senators – John Fetterman (Pennsylvania) and Catherine Cortez Masto (Nevada) – again support the Republican proposal, as they had done the day before, revealing internal fissures in the party.

Democrats condition any agreement on the renewal of Obamacare Health Program subsidies, which expire later this year, and the reversal of health sector cuts included in the Fiscal Reduction Law promoted by President Donald Trump.
Republicans insist on approving the economic items before and then negotiating the demands of democrats, accusing them of trying to expand benefits to illegal immigrants.
VANCE blames opposition
Vice President JD Vance, Trump’s ally, said after voting that the responsibility for the impasse falls on the Democratic leader in the Senate, Chuck Schumer.

“Although Schumer has paralyzed the federal government, we will do everything to secure essential services to the population,” said Vance.
He was still optimistic about a solution soon, claiming to believe that moderate democrats “are starting to change their posture.”
At the same time, the Trump administration guided the management and budget office to map programs considered non -essential to prepare layoffs if the stoppage extends, in line with the White House agenda to reduce the size of the public machine.

The duration of the stoppage is closely monitored by analysts ,. A longer closing than expected can press a fragile economy and shake the confidence of financial markets, which operate close to record levels.
