BYD’s CEO, , announced this Thursday (9.Oct.2025) that the automaker will supply 30 customized flex hybrid vehicles for COP30 (30th UN Conference on Climate Change), which will be held in Belém. The statement was made during the inauguration of BYD’s new factory in Camaçari (BA), with the presence of the president (PT).
The unit marks the beginning of national production of electric and hybrid vehicles and consolidates Brazil as the company’s strategic hub in Latin America. The government, however, for the special import regime (SKD) that benefits BYD.

The complex received an investment of R$5.5 billion and was designed to be BYD’s largest outside of Asia. The initial capacity is 150 thousand vehicles per year, reaching 300 thousand in a second phase. Since the beginning of October, 350 workers have been hired. The forecast is that 2,000 direct jobs will be created by the end of the month; adding the indirect ones, up to 20 thousand.
Government evaluates tax reduction for SKD vehicles
