“I’m more relaxed in Madrid” than in Paris, thanks to “a different lifestyle”, admitted Real Madrid and France star Kylian Mbappé in an interview this Thursday (9), before the 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Azerbaijan.
“I adapted well to Madrid. It’s not an attack on France, but it’s true that I’m calmer there. In Madrid, the lifestyle is different. It’s less ‘speed’ [velocidade em inglês] than in Paris”, he explained.
Also in the sporting sphere, the Frenchman is having a good time with his club.
“I managed to score goals. But I think, including my style of play, I’m feeling good, although I think I can still do better.”
“But we need to continue. Because this is just the beginning of the season”, warned the current number 10 of the French team.
“When you look at the players who have worn this number, they are players who have left their mark across different generations: Platini, Zizou [Zidane]… I try to mark my generation. It’s a significant number in the history of the French national team, although I don’t fit that profile as a point guard.”
The striker has been suffering from discomfort in his ankle since his last match for Real Madrid, but that won’t stop him from playing for France in this Friday’s game, in Paris, at 3:45 pm (Brasília time): “The coach wants me to play. I don’t think there will be a problem.”
