Venezuela mobilizes military in operation for national defense

Venezuela launched a large-scale security operation in the states of La Guaira and Carabobo this Wednesday (8), mobilizing military and police forces as part of a national defense plan.

Diosdado Cabello, Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, announced the activation of “Operation Independence 200”, which involves the Armed Forces, militias and local authorities in protecting essential public infrastructures and services.

The operation, which began at midnight, includes tactical maneuvers and the establishment of checkpoints, according to Admiral Gregorio Briceno Paniagua, commander of the La Guaira defense zone.

Cabello stated that the deployment aimed to guarantee national defense and demonstrate Venezuela’s readiness to resist anything.

The operation is part of the country’s current strategy to integrate civilian, military and police capabilities in response to perceived threats to sovereignty.
