Agreement between CGU and Cade leads to joint action in RS – 10/10/2025 – Panel

A joint operation between the (Comptroller General of the Union) and Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) last Wednesday (8) reinforced a partnership between government bodies signed in 2023.

The purpose of the technical cooperation agreement was to make cartel investigations more efficient, avoiding, for example, duplication of efforts and institutional clashes. He presided over Cade for four years, which facilitated the partnership.

This week’s action, called “Operation Preliminary Project”, targeted three engineering companies based in Rio Grande do Sul, contracted by the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (Dnit). There was also the participation of the Federal Police.

The companies are suspected of bidding crimes, cartel formation and criminal organization.

They would have adjusted their price proposals to obtain engineering contracts for emergency reconstruction works on highways in Rio Grande do Sul affected by the t.

The value exceeds R$72 million reais, funded with federal resources from extraordinary credits. Nine search and seizure warrants were executed.
