The Minister of Mines and Energy, praised the role of his colleague and Ibama in analyzing the request for oil exploration in the Equatorial Margin.

The praise comes amid a veiled dispute in the government over the right of Petrobras to drill wells in an Amazon region believed to have a lot of oil. The government’s environmental area resists this authorization, while ministers from departments linked to politics and infrastructure are in favor.
Without hiding his favorable position, Silveira said that the government wants to “give the Brazilian people the right to know the natural potential we have in the mineral sector as a whole.”
