The governor (Republicans) made his harshest direct attack on the Minister of Finance, (), when defending himself from criticism after being appointed as one of the main organizers of the .
In a video on social media, in addition to accusing the PT of committing offenses and lies, he said: “Be ashamed, Haddad, respect Brazilians.” The minister’s office said he would not comment. The minister had said that the governor defended the overturn of the measure to “protect Faria Lima”.
The video was recorded during the governor’s visit to the Toyota factory, in Porto Feliz, in the interior of the state, on Thursday morning (9), shortly after the minister’s statement. The governor had gone to inspect the factory, which was damaged in a storm last month. Tarcísio registered with the social media team that follows him daily.
The day before, Tarcísio denied Sheet that had articulated the overthrow of the MP. However, at night, when the government was defeated, the leader of the PL in the Chamber, Sóstenes Cavalcanti (PL-RJ), and other governors for the result.
To his assistants, according to the report, Tarcísio repeated that he did not call party leaders asking for the MP’s overthrow. The PL leader would have spoken to him and told Tarcísio that he got excited at the moment of victory, according to the version circulating in Palácio dos Bandeirantes — the report was unable to speak to Sóstenes.
Tarcísio’s recording, which begins with him saying that “patience has a limit”, was made one day after he published a video apologizing to the population because of a speech he made during a press conference that had a bad impact and was exploited on social media by the left.
At the time, he said that he would start to worry about the methanol contamination crisis in alcoholic beverages when it also affected Coca-Cola, his favorite drink.
According to Sheet It was discovered that since last week the governor had increased the tone of his criticism of the PT in what would be a reaction to the way in which the issue of drinks was approached.
At a press conference at the beginning of the crisis, he said there was no evidence of “organized crime” involvement in drink adulteration. But the Ministry of Justice reported that it was investigating signs that the methanol that ended up in the alcohol consumed by the population could have been imported by the PCC (First Command of the Capital).
To interlocutors, in recent conversations, he recalled recent friction and conflicting information in the episode of the expropriations of the Moinho favela, in the center of the capital, when PT members made a series of criticisms of the São Paulo government’s handling of the case.
“For months, we have been the target of a broad campaign to deconstruct our image and reputation by the PT. Offenses, lies on social media — everything is fine, nothing different from what we have always seen in the PT,” he said in the video.
“The PT’s strategy has always been this: to sell the perfect world in advertising, spending their money to do so, and also spreading fear and hatred against those who think differently from them”, he added.
Tarcísio has shown more impatience by reaffirming that his plan is to seek re-election next year, although he continues to be considered the main opposition name to run for President against (PT). Hours before recording the video, a new Quest/Genial survey showed that the approval of the PT member continues on an upward trend that began in July and that the PT member is in the second round.
In the 2022 campaign, when he ran for government against Haddad, Tarcísio had criticized his rival, whom he called the “worst mayor in the history of São Paulo”. After taking office, however, the relationship was cordial for a period, and they worked together for tax reform.
At night, PT’s profile on social media released a video in which, without mentioning Tarcísio, Haddad said that the MP “sought to guarantee investments in health, education and pensions, charging a fair contribution from the super-rich” and that the opposition defended “billionaires, banks and bets” — attacking the group is part of the party’s communication strategy.
