Healthy and properly nourished plants will better tolerate lower temperatures and, as a result, will produce better crops in summer. — they will not have to focus on strong regeneration to survive and will direct their energy towards bearing fruit.
It is very important not to do it too late – otherwise the plant will not have a chance to prepare for winter, which will make it more susceptible to diseases and damage caused by snow or snow. The best time for autumn fertilization of strawberries is September and October. Then the plants no longer produce crops, and at the same time there is enough time until winter and a significant drop in temperature. It is important to do this before the first frost – if the ground freezes, the plants will not have a chance to absorb nutrients from the fertilizer.
This is an important procedure that many beginner gardeners forget about, but if you want to have abundant harvests next year, it should be carried out. This is one of the most important steps in the case – taking care of the bushes in the fall will bring results in the spring.

You can choose both mineral and organic fertilizers for strawberries. In October, these plants should be provided primarily with phosphorus and potassium. Nitrogen should be avoided – it strongly stimulates the growth of leaves, which can significantly weaken the bushes in the colder months. In turn, potassium and phosphorus strengthen the roots, which makes the plant cope better with frost.
You can use compost, manure, and specialized multi-mineral fertilizers for fruit crops. However, apart from choosing the right preparation, you should also remember about proper application. In addition to the correct month, several other steps are also important. If we decide to organic fertilizers, e.g. manure, it is worth mixing it with the substratethis will make the roots have easier and more even access to nutrients. In the case of granulated fertilizers, it is worth covering them lightly with soil after sprinkling the strawberries.
Moreover, regardless of the type of fertilizer, after applying it, you should water the soil well, this will allow the nutrients to better penetrate the soil and reach the roots.
