Israel attacks Gaza again despite ceasefire

Israeli tanks and drones attacked several areas in the north of the Gaza Strip and Rafah. Achieved refugee tents in Mawasi, despite the ceasefire in force since Friday.

Israeli tanks and drones (self-piloted aircraft) opened fire this Wednesday in several locations in the north of the Gaza Strip and in the city of Rafah, to the south, hitting refugee tents in Mawasi, reported the Spanish news agency EFE.

So far, there are no reports of fatalities or injured people due to what happened.

A ceasefire, in force since Friday, was agreed between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, sponsored by US President Donald Trump, and negotiated with the mediation of Egypt, Qatar, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

Under the agreement, 20 live hostages were handed over by Hamas to Israel on Monday, but only four bodies of the 28 presumed dead had been returned.

The war in the Gaza Strip was triggered by attacks led by Hamas on October 7, 2023 in southern Israel, in which around 1,200 people died and 251 were taken hostage.

In retaliation, Israel launched a large-scale military operation in the Gaza Strip, which caused more than 67,000 deaths, according to local authorities controlled by Hamas, the destruction of almost all of the territory’s infrastructure and the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of people.
