The judge in the criminal proceedings against ÖVP club chairman August Wöginger and two other defendants for abuse of office was not biased. This was decided by the President of the Linz Regional Court. Initially, the private participant Christa Scharf – the applicant for the management of the Braunau tax office who was unsuccessful due to an intervention – submitted a rejection application. This has now been rejected; according to the court’s press release, “an independent appeal against this decision” is “not permitted”.
