A shootout between rival militias on the banks of Avenida Brasil, in Santa Cruzin the West Zone of Rio, left a dead man and caused an escape that ended inside an Army barracks, on Tuesday night (21).

The victim was identified as Lucas Menezes. According to family members, he was on his way to work, at a supermarket in the region, when he was hit. Lucas was taken to Pedro II Hospital, but he did not survive his injuries. Relatives believe he may have been . Even during the confrontation, a car overturned on Avenida Padre Guilherme Decaminada, after hitting a motorcycle. According to the Military Police, a charger, ammunition, three radio transmitters and other materials were found inside the vehicle. The CBMERJ (Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro) was called, but one of the victims refused treatment.
