Over time, the lips slowly fade, require better hydration, and fine wrinkles may appear around them facial expressions. This is mainly due to reduced collagen production, but this effect may also be increased by inadequate care, including lack of protection against sunlight and inadequate hydration of the body.
Applying perfect makeup for mature women may be a bit more difficult, but remembering a few tricks, you can quickly and beautifully define your lips, making them look perfect. We tell you how to do it.
Before you start applying colorful cosmetics to your lips, you need to remember to moisturize them – it is worth exfoliating them twice a week, e.g. with sugar. It is good to use lotions with SPF. After moisturizing your lips, we move on to the actual makeup:
- Liner — preferably in a color similar to the color of your lips or slightly darker. You should draw a line slightly beyond the lips.
- Lipstick – After lining the lips, we use a lipstick in a color similar to the lip liner.
- Highlighter — apply a bit of highlighter (preferably in cooler tones) to the lower lip, this will add volume to the lips.
- Lip gloss — preferably with a plumping effect, they often contain gently burning agents, thanks to which you can achieve the effect of larger lips.
- Corrector — apply a bit of concealer or a very light eyeliner or eye shadow over the cupid’s bow.
This is the perfect way to paint your lips after the age of 50, making them look fuller and larger. However, the way of applying cosmetics is not everything, it is also worth paying attention to the appropriate colors.

However, there are several shades that will be a good option for almost every mature woman, and they are:
- Warm shades of pink — such colors will work well for various occasions, in many cases they are very close to the natural lip color. They allow you to emphasize your lips and at the same time do not dominate your face makeup. This is a great option for everyday use.

After the age of 50, it is better to avoid very expressive and strong colors that may emphasize wrinkles around the mouth. It’s better to give up matte lipsticks or use them only when you don’t have a problem with dry lips.
