Geisy Arruda celebrates 17 years of the pink dress controversy: “Symbol”

17 years ago, a simple pink dress changed the influencer’s life Geisy Arruda36, and marked the collective memory of Brazil.

The episode, which occurred in 2008, within a university in São Bernardo do Campo, in São Paulo, began with an act of prejudice and ended up becoming an emblematic case about machismo, judgment and women’s freedom over their own bodies.

At the time, she was a university student and was harassed for wearing a short dress inside the institution. The scene gained national repercussion and was widely reported, raising debates about morality, machismo and women’s rights.

Almost two decades later, Geisy celebrates the 17th anniversary of the incident with a special photo shoot. She posed next to the original dress, which she still keeps with extreme care today. The piece, which remains intact, is protected inside a safe, like a true personal treasure.

“This dress is part of my story. It reminds me of how strong I needed to be and how much I grew. Keeping it is a way of honoring everything I’ve experienced”, says Geisy.

She reveals that the dress remains kept “under lock and key”, literally, but that once a year she takes it out of the safe to perform a kind of emotional ritual.

“It’s my personal reliquary. It was known for something negative, but today it represents victory and transformation,” said the .

In the annual ritual, Geisy carefully washes the dress and lets it “air out”. The gesture is symbolic, reinforcing the emotional and historical value she attributes to the piece.

And plans for the future are already defined. Geisy revealed that she intends to celebrate the dress’s 18th anniversary with an even more daring and symbolic shoot in Las Vegas.

The city will be the stage for the “coming of age” of the dress that changed the influencer’s life.
