The Palácio do Planalto announced his inauguration as minister of the General Secretariat for next Wednesday (29). Listed since the beginning of the year, but announced only last week, he takes over from Márcio Macêdo.
The inauguration ceremony is expected to take place in the main hall of Planalto, the Noble Hall, at 4pm. The event marks the appointment of Boulos, which was published in the Official Gazette last Tuesday (21).
To take on the role, Boulos takes leave from his mandate as federal deputy for São Paulo.
In , he stated that the president (PT) gave him “the mission of helping to put the government on the streets”.
The General Secretariat is responsible for bridging the gap between government and social movements. For years, Boulos was one of the main leaders of the MTST (Homeless Workers Movement) in the country.
