Thailand’s Queen Mother Sirikit has died at the age of 93, the Thai Royal House said on Saturday (25) local time.
According to a statement, the Queen Mother passed away “peacefully” on Friday (24), in a hospital in Bangkok.
It added that Sirikit had “suffered from several illnesses” since 2019 while hospitalized, including a blood infection this month.
Sirikit was queen consort to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who died in 2016 after seven decades on the throne, and is the mother of the current monarch, King Maha Vajiralongkorn.
