Ankara – Turkish authorities took control of the opposition-affiliated television channel Tele1 on Saturday and closed the channel’s YouTube channel. The station’s editor-in-chief, Merdan Yanardag, was arrested on Friday, as he announced through his lawyers on Saturday. The arrest came as part of new investigations into alleged espionage against imprisoned former Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu.
