Santos drew 2-2 with Botafogo this Sunday, at the Nilton Santos stadium, in the 30th round of the Brazilian Championship. The home team scored the fastest goal of the competition, with Joaquín Correa finding the net after 22 seconds, and went two times ahead on the scoreboard, but was unable to hold on to the advantage. With the result, Bota reaches 47 points and occupies sixth place. Peixe, benefiting from Vitória’s defeat in the round, has 32 points and moves a little further away from the relegation zone, now with one point more than the Bahian team.

The lightning goal came after Botafogo recovered the ball in the defense field. Jeffinho advanced from the left and found Correa, who finished to make it 1-0. Santos reacted and equalized in the 23rd minute, when Igor Vinicius crossed from the right, the ball deflected off the defense and left it for Souza to push into the goal.

Botafogo regained the advantage at 39, again with Correa. He squared off with Jeffinho and shot across, almost from an angle, to score a beautiful goal. Santos returned from the break with a more offensive posture, after the entry of Guilherme in place of Alexis Duarte, and started to create more plays, despite the defensive failures continuing.

Goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão made important saves to prevent Botafogo from expanding, and Santos’ equalizer came from a penalty kick converted by Barreal, in the 25th minute of the final stage. The penalty was awarded after Souza was brought down by Vitinho as he invaded the area from the left. Both teams still looked for the winning goal, but the score did not change until the final whistle. In the next round, Santos faces Fortaleza in Vila Belmiro, while Botafogo visits Mirassol in the interior of São Paulo.
