This Sunday, the Civil Guard in the apartment where she lived with her boyfriend, 27, and who was arrested as a suspect in this crime about which, so far, very little information has emerged. For the moment, the authorities have confirmed that there were no previous complaints and that neither the woman nor the alleged aggressor were inside. The judge has decreed summary secrecy in the investigation, as confirmed by the mayor of the town, María del Mar Hernández.

In a statement, also this Monday, the City Council named the victim: Ainhoa. “On the occasion of the tragic murder of our neighbor Ainhoa, a victim of sexist violence, the Librilla City Council, on behalf of all its neighbors, wants to show its condolences to family and friends of the victim, while expressing our rejection of all types of violence against women.”

Victim and aggressor, the mayor explained to the media, were from the town, from “very well-known” families and who are in a state of shock. In fact, the relatives of the aggressor, who was arrested this Sunday afternoon, have needed psychological and medical help, according to the leader, who has decreed five days of official mourning in the town and a minute of silence on Thursday at 8 p.m., coinciding with the celebration of the municipal plenary session.

Until then, he has asked for “respect”, since the investigation into the case remains open. The Government Delegation for Gender Violence, which has already reported that it is collecting data on the crime, has not yet confirmed it as a sexist murder. When it does, it will be the second sexist crime committed this year in the Region of Murcia, and the 33rd in Spain.

Sources close to the case have reported that the aggressor was undergoing psychological treatment. In any case, the Librilla City Council insists on the need to focus attention on the support and protection of the victim’s environment. “These are facts that are difficult to understand and complicated to manage from the feelings of those of us who know each other as neighbors,” the City Council says in the statement.

For his part, the delegate of the central government in the autonomous community, Francisco Lucas, who this morning participated in an event at the San Isidoro Institute in Cartagena for its constitution as Punto Violeta, has also criticized the “brutal crime” and has valued the role of education as “the best instrument to transform a society free of gender violence”, for which he has called on all of society, institutions and political forces to unite against this structural problem widespread throughout the world.
