A waterspout was seen last Tuesday at Praia de Alvor, in the Algarve. The phenomenon, similar to a tornado, is characterized by a whirlwind of intense wind that forms a funnel-shaped column, made up of water droplets raised from the sea surface, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere.
There is no record of damage or injuries associated with this episode.
