After the vote in the committee, the process will go to the Chamber plenary, which will give the final word on the revocation of the deputy’s mandate
The Constitution and Justice (CCJ) of the Chamber of Deputies intends to conclude, in November, the analysis of the process that could result in the revocation of the deputy’s mandate (PL-SP). The parliamentarian was sentenced by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to ten years in prison and the loss of her mandate for her involvement in the invasion of the National Justice Council (CNJ) system.
The president of the CCJ, deputy Paulo Azi (União-BA), informed that the evidence production phase — the current stage of the process — should be completed next week. Afterwards, a period of five plenary sessions will be opened for the rapporteur, deputy Diego Garcia (Republicanos-PR), to present his opinion.
After the vote in the committee, the process will go to the Chamber plenary, which will give the final word on the impeachment. The loss of the mandate requires the favorable vote of at least 257 of the 513 deputies.
Although the STF ordered Zambelli’s immediate impeachment, the president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), decided to submit the case to parliamentarians for deliberation.
Currently, Carla Zambelli is imprisoned in Italy, where the Public Ministry has already spoken out in favor of her extradition. In September, she participated via videoconference in a hearing at the CCJ and exchanged accusations with hacker Walter Delgatti, also convicted in the same case.
According to rapporteur Diego Garcia, the final report is in the adjustment phase. He informed that his team is working to adapt the text to the determinations of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who sent documents to the collegiate under judicial secrecy.
