The Israeli government, like other countries around the world, uses the cloud infrastructure of US technology companies to store data there. However, those tech companies regularly have to secretly comply with requests from law enforcement agencies that need their customer data for investigations. To get around this, a secret warning system was stipulated in contracts with Google and Amazon, according to a British-Israeli research team. The papers also stated that the companies are not allowed to unilaterally terminate the contracts even if Israel commits human rights violations. The companies deny having circumvented legal obligations.
