The former Minister of Planning and Budget and pre-candidate for the Senate for São Paulo, Simone Tebet (PSB), told the Poder360 this Tuesday (June 23, 2026) that the senator (PT-BA) should have already left his position as government leader in the Federal Senate, so as not to “exposing the government itself”.
Wagner was the target of , of the PF (Federal Police), on June 18 due to suspected irregularities involving financial institutions such as Banco Master.
“He should have already handed over the position. I speak as a lawyer, okay? I speak as a lawyer, everyone has the right to full defense and contradictory proceedings, but he is the leader of the government. So, in order not to expose the government itself, it must, obviously, in my opinion, ask for removal. Even so that you can take care of your defense, and make the moves you deem appropriate”, stated Tebet.
In an interview with BandNewsWagner that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will keep him in office. He denied any commercial ties with Master or with the Credcesta company, a payroll credit card company created during PT’s administration in the government of Bahia.
Although, having negotiated with investor Augusto Lima, a former partner at Master, the R$2.5 million apartment in Salvador (BA) mentioned in the investigations. Wagner suggested to Lima a purchase and repurchase dynamic.
The Lula government is expected to meet this week with the senator to discuss his position in the Senate.

CPI FOR MASTER BANK
Simone Tebet also defended the creation of a CPMI (Mixed Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) or CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) to investigate the case of Banco Master.
For her, this should have already been done as a way for the National Congress to show transparency to the population.
“It is the public man’s duty to provide transparency to the true owner of power. Power comes from the people, sovereignty is popular, they go to the polls, they vote and they want to know what their congressman is doing. So, when you have the biggest corruption scandal in the country’s financial system, perhaps in the world”, stated Tebet.
According to Tebet, despite the investigation carried out by the Federal Public Ministry, Federal Police and the Supreme Court, the CPIs cover not only legal aspects, but also political ones.
