A massive tree in the Czech Republic fell on a passing car near Olomouc. The injured driver was taken away by paramedics. Firefighters also intervene at the scene of the traffic accident, removing the trunk from the wrecked car.

They gradually cut it and clear the wood from the road. Firefighters from the station in Šternberk will also assist the towing service. The road between Olomouc and Štěpánov is currently closed.

An unfortunate combination of circumstances

In recent days, falling trees and branches caused major problems in many European countries due to adverse weather. The case of a fallen tree in Bratislava’s Petržalka ended extremely tragically.

When the volunteer firemen were trying to free the SUV from under a fallen poplar, the driver ran into a 24-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl while backing up. According to witnesses, it happened that after lifting the trunk.

After the accident, Olympian Denisa Hurban Baránková, an 11-year-old girl, has been hospitalized with serious injuries since Sunday. The case is being investigated by the police as a crime of homicide in a single act concurrent with a crime of bodily harm.
