Bárbara Elisa Yabeta Borges, aged 28, died on Friday afternoon (10/31). According to the Military Police, she was hit during a shootout near Morro do Timbau, in Complexo da Maré.
The young woman was in the back seat of the vehicle and was taken to the vehicle, but she did not survive her injuries and died. The app driver told the police that he was transporting Bárbara from Ilha do Governador towards Cachambi. Near the Fundão footbridge, he heard a series of shots and, shortly afterwards, realized that the passenger had been hit.
Nas Bárbara – or Babi, as she was called by those closest to her – used to publish photos of international trips, trips to Rio de Janeiro, moments with family, friends and her husband, with whom she had been in a relationship for seven years. The couple had married in December 2022 and were trying to get pregnant.

Friends and acquaintances used the networks to. Rio influencer Mariana Araújo, a close friend of Bárbara, wrote:
“I lost a friend of years to a stray bullet inside an Uber on the Yellow Line. A human being of light, an incredible woman, with an incredible marriage. She wanted to be a mother, she was trying to get pregnant, build her family. Wife, worker, such a good person. She didn’t deserve this.”
Another longtime friend also vented online. “Bárbara was a person I had the honor of knowing, and she was more than special to me. Her life was taken, being yet another victim of this disorderly violence in the city. It is inexplicable.”
Internet users who did not know Bárbara, but were moved by the case, left messages of regret and indignation in posts on Instagram.
