“Several people” were stabbed this Saturday on a train bound for Huntingdon, in the county of Cambridgeshire, England, according to the British press.

The police arrested two suspects, after receiving an alert at around 7:30 pm with reports that “several people had been stabbed on a train”.

“Armed police attended the scene and stopped the convoy in Huntingdon, where two men were detained,” adds the police, who are still at the scene.

According to , witnesses say they saw a man with a large knife and passengers hiding in the bathrooms.

Railway traffic is interrupted in the region.

The number of injured is not yet certain. “Several people were transported to hospital,” said Cambridgeshire police, without revealing further details.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has already reacted, describing what happened as “a terrible incident that is deeply worrying”. “My thoughts are with everyone affected,” wrote Starmer, on the social network X, appealing to the population to comply with police guidelines, which ask that no one approach the scene of the incident.
