Andréa Mota talks about Leandro’s widow label: “I’ve already built another life”

The businesswoman Andrea Mota, 49, commented about having built another life after the death of her first husband, country singer Leandro (1961-1998), having other children and wanting to let go of the label of just being his widow.

In an exclusive interview with CNNshe reflected: “he was my love since I was 14 years old, but he passed away. He no longer lives, he is with God and I had to. I reached rock bottom and there is no other way out of rock bottom: either I would climb to climb or I would bury myself with him.”

Andréa commented that she needed help from doctors, therapy and medicine to be able to start a new life and rebuild her reality.

“We only have one life, so I have to live it. If I’m still here it’s because I’m supposed to be here. Just being Leandro’s widow, for me, is a label. I was married to him, I’m his widow, but today I have another life. I built another reality, I have more children and I’m happy within it”, she said.

She and singer Leandro started dating, got married and had their first daughter, Lyandra Costa, in 1995. In 1998, the year of the artist’s death, the couple’s second heir was born, who is also called Leandro.

After the countryman’s death, she married again, with businessman Fernando Alves, and had three other children. Andréa is already the grandmother of two children, Lyandra’s heirs.

Andréa defended that she agreed to participate in the reality show to be able to show that she is not “just Leandro’s widow”, but a wife, mother and businesswoman.

“I want to show my feminine, business, maternal strength, as a wife and as a grandmother. Are you proud to have been married to him? I am, yes, very proud of that, because I was in love with him, but life goes on, I had to continue”, she told CNN.
