Boulos: RJ operation used demagoguery with people’s lives – 11/03/2025 – Brasília Hoje

The chief minister of the government’s General Secretariat (PT), received a tribute on Monday night (3), where he once again criticized the operation that killed more than 100 people in Rio de Janeiro.

“We have to invest in the fight against organized crime in a firm, intelligent way but without demagoguery with people’s lives, which is what this operation ended up showing,” he said during an event with businesspeople in Brasília.

In his speech and speaking to journalists, Boulos spared no criticism of transport and delivery platforms for the lack of work support for delivery drivers. The event was attended by representatives from the sector.

Still in his speeches, the new minister criticized the interest rate (currently at 15%), made mention of money laundering in companies, citing the traditional Faria Lima Avenue, as one of the epicenters of crime of this nature. Boulos also made a speech against United States taifas and referred to the current situation as a “return of protectionism”.

Despite the speech criticizing companies such as fintechs, Boulos spoke and took photos throughout the night with business representatives.

The director of the board of directors of Esfera Brasil, João Camargo, gave a speech praising Boulos and the government, for the operations carried out against the places where drug trafficking originates in Brazil. The director said he had “no idea” that fintechs would be involved in crimes of this nature.

Held in Lago Sul, an upscale region of Brasília, the event served canapés and snacks, as well as drinks, for everyone present.

Organized by Esfera Brasil, a business sector group that promotes political debates, the event brought together government ministers, such as Vinícius Marques (Comptroller General of the Union), Esther Dweck (Management and Innovation), Bruno Dantas (Court of Auditors of the Union), as well as the director general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, as well as Congress leaders, businesspeople and other authorities.

According to the organization, the meeting would serve to enhance dialogue and commitment to Brazil between the public and private sectors.

The party was scheduled for Tuesday (4), at first. However, it was brought forward to today because President Lula summoned Boulos to go to Belém, where he is hosting events related to COP30.

In the capital of Pará, Lula is already accompanied by ministers Marina Silva (Environment), Anielle Franco (Racial Equality), Paulo Teixeira (Agrarian Development) and Sonia Guajajara (Indigenous Peoples).
