Pragmatic, PSOL discards candidacies ‘for the record’ – 11/04/2025 – Panel

“Our objective in this election will not be to use the dispute for the sole purpose of projecting or building public figures”, says the electoral resolution approved by the party’s National Executive this Monday (3).

According to the document, states should, when possible, “prioritize the unity of the progressive camp, from the first round, around the government dispute that represents the best name to defeat the extreme right.”

The same goes for Senate races. “In relation to the Senate, the party will make efforts to support candidacies that appear to be effectively competitive”, he states.

Founded two decades ago, the left-wing party has gradually sought to occupy spaces in politics over the last few years.

In past elections, the PSOLists were known for throwing out names without a chance just to make a point.

In the resolution, the party reinforced its support for Lula’s re-election candidacy and made it clear that complying with the barrier clause next year is a priority. The party asks for special attention to increase voting in the North and Northeast regions.
