O typhoon Kalmaegi left at least five dead and caused widespread damage after hitting the central coast of Vietnam on Thursday night (6).
Three of the deaths were reported in Dak Lak province, while the other two occurred in neighboring Gia Lai province.
The phenomenon also brought to the coastal city of Quy Nhon and neighboring regions, uprooting trees, damaging roofs and breaking windows of buildings in several locations.
According to preliminary information from local authorities, 52 houses collapsed and others 2,593 were damaged throughout the region.
Power, water and internet cuts were reported in most areas of Quy Nhon, along with severe traffic disruptions.
Local authorities continue to assess the damage and carry out recovery work.
The Vietnamese government mobilized around 350,000 residents from 100,000 families in coastal areas, where schools were closed and most stores were closed.

Kalmaegi left a , reducing entire neighborhoods to rubble and displacing thousands of people.
The storm was the deadliest typhoon to hit the country this year, causing at least 114 deaths, with 127 still missing — most in Cebu province, a major tourist destination.
