A initiative aims to promote media literacy and mobilize communities within the scope of COP30 in Belém, Brazil.
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) launched the #ClimateCounts campaign to reinforce the fight against climate misinformation, reveals the organization.
With misinformation and poor climate information on the rise, the #ClimateCounts campaign seeks to promote media literacy, empower individuals and communities to take action and demand more climate action.
“As the world approaches COP30 and countries present new goals under the Paris Agreement, the message is clear: we have no time to waste”, says UNDP global director of climate change, Cassei Flynn, quoted in the statement.
The #ClimateCounts campaign is available in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish.
The launch of this campaign comes after a UN report has warned that almost eight in every 10 poor people around the world, or around 900 million people, are directly exposed to climate risks worsened by global warming.
The UNDP is the main United Nations entity fighting the injustices of poverty, inequality and climate change.
