The Russian attack on the city of Balaklija claimed the lives of three people: Among the wounded are several children

  • A nighttime rocket attack in Balaklia claimed at least three lives.
  • Ten people, including children, were injured.
  • The nine injured were taken to hospital for treatment.
  • Russia has been carrying out regular missile attacks on Ukrainian territory since 2022.

At least three people died and ten were injured, including children, as a result of a night rocket attack by Russian forces on residential buildings in the central part of the city of Balakliya located in the Kharkiv region in the east of Ukraine. Via the Telegram platform, the head of the local military administration, Vitalij Karabanov, said this on Monday. It was reported by the Reuters and AFP agencies.

“According to preliminary information, as a result of the nighttime rocket attack on the city of Balakliya, three people were killed,” Karabanov wrote. Among the injured are also children born in 2011, 2007 and 2010. Nine people were taken to hospital. “Unfortunately, phone calls about possible injuries continue to come in,” added Karabanov.

Since the beginning of the invasion of its forces in February 2022, Russia has been attacking Ukrainian territory almost daily with drones or missiles. On Friday night, the capital city of Kyiv was targeted by a massive Russian attack, in which seven people lost their lives in an apartment building.

As winter approaches, Moscow has also stepped up its attacks on energy infrastructure. Ukraine responds with attacks on warehouses, oil refineries and other targets in Russia. Meanwhile, the Russian army continues its slow advance on the front line, particularly in southern Ukraine, where it captured two more villages on Sunday.
