The CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) of the São Paulo Chamber of public housing units (HIS) in the city threatens to forcibly take construction company executives to testify.
The collegiate says that 14 businesspeople in the sector did not comply with previous summons to appear before the commission and claims that there is a precedent for coercive conduct of those involved.
If the executives fail to comply with the new subpoena, they would be subject to court orders to be taken by force and under police escort to give testimony, say members of the CPI.
Cyrela executives were summoned to testify; Vitacon Participações; Kallas Group; Helbor Empreendimentos; Cury; Benx; Directional; Even Construtora; Conx; Tibério Construções e Incorporações; Infinity Construtora e Incorporadora; Allegra; MAR Hamburgo Real Estate Development and Vita Urbana.
The so-called HIS CPI investigates alleged fraud committed by companies in the real estate sector.
The investigations want to identify whether they were granted for popular housing, but passed the properties on to people with high purchasing power and even to companies, which allocate the apartments for short-term stays.
