During the session in which the Plenary of the Chamber analyzed the process that could lead to the revocation of the mandate of the deputy (Psol-RJ), the deputy (PL-SP) made scathing criticisms and stated that his intention “was to beat up” parliamentarians from the party, who, according to him, would adopt provocative conduct in the discussions.

Bilynskyj voted in favor of the impeachment and refuted the arguments presented by Braga’s defense, who claimed to have reacted to provocations before attacking an MBL activist.

“The central argument of Glauber’s defense is the following: ‘I was offended, so I attacked him’. It wasn’t an hour ago that the PSOL activists were here at the entrance to the plenary. What were they doing with the right-wing deputies, me being one of them? They were swearing and insulting. According to this reasoning, I would have every right to beat them all, deservedly so.”

The deputy also stated that “everything that comes out of the mouths of the PSOL and the Left is a lie” and accused the group of using the plenary to “invent excuses” while mobilizing, outside, activists to harass right-wing parliamentarians.

“They come here to talk, make up an excuse, but on the same day they are organizing those militants to come here to offend you, insult you, create a problem with you. That’s what they want. They want you to lose your mandate, because you, justifiably, put your hand in the face of one of those rubbish people. That’s the truth.”

Even so, Bilynskyj said he held back out of respect for the 72,156 voters who chose him. According to him, “I wanted to beat him up, but I don’t do it. I don’t do it, out of justice for who I represent.”

Glauber Braga’s impeachment

The Plenary decided, on Wednesday night (10), to apply a six-month suspension to Braga’s mandate, rejecting the impeachment recommendation made by the Ethics Council.

The case was motivated by the aggression committed by Glauber Braga against Gabriel Costenaro, then a member of the Movimento Brasil Livre (MBL), in April 2024.

Braga admitted the attack, but claimed to have reacted after facing a series of provocations, including seven consecutive episodes of personal attacks. According to him, there were even insults directed at his mother, who was in an advanced stage of Alzheimer’s and died 15 days after the incident.
