The appointment to take command of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) is being considered by the government, according to a report by Axios. The information was provided to Axios by two American and two Israeli officials.

The US will be more active in Gaza in the next period

The UN Security Council had approved on November 17 a resolution authorizing the Board of Peace, together with cooperating states, to establish a temporary International Stabilization Force in Gaza.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Walz, who visited Israel this week, reportedly informed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials that the Trump administration intends to lead the ISF and place a lieutenant general in charge, Axios reported.

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that an announcement on who will join the Gaza Peace Council is expected early next year.

The Security Council resolution, drafted by the US, describes the Board of Peace as a transitional administration “that will set the framework and coordinate funding for the reconstruction of Gaza,” in line with Trump’s 20-point peace plan to end the war with Hamas.
